The Medicine Garden

Why grow herbs?

Herbal Medicine uses plants to help treat a wide range of health problems. It has been used for thousands of years and we want to preserve our traditions so that they can be passed onto to future generations.

Many commonly used medicinal plants are endangered in the wild, and so our garden will act as a guardian of some these precious plants.

This will take the pressure off fragile wild places by encouraging people to grow their own herbal harvest and educate people on how to harvest in the wild.

Some medicinal plants are shipped over large distances for trade, and some are endangered worldwide. We want to grow native and non-native plants for display and education in the garden and for volunteers to  harvest and use.
